About the Show: With echoes of Stoppard, Kafka, and the Brothers Grimm, The Pillowman centers on a writer in an unnamed totalitarian state who is being interrogated about the gruesome content of his short stories and their similarities to a series of child murders. The result is an urgent work of theatrical bravura and an unflinching examination of the very nature and purpose of art.

Pillowman Auditions

Open auditions for Stage One’s production of The Pillowman by Martin McDonagh, directed by Michael Stalsberg.

January 11 & 12 at 7:30 PM *If you can’t attend, but still wish to audition please email producer Mike Stalsberg at Mike@StageOneWi.org to schedule an alternate time (2022)

All audition materials will be provided. The rehearsal schedule is flexible and will be generated following the casting of the show. Actors auditioning must be available on March 6-10 (Tech week) for tech & dress rehearsals (6 PM – 10 PM), as well as performances.

A Christmas Carol Cancelled

Due to unfortunate circumstances, Stage One, Inc. has made the decision to cancel the December production of A Christmas Carol at the Janesville Performing Arts Center. Ticketholders will be contacted regarding refunds. Potential replacement programming is to be determined. A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, directed by Michael Stalsberg
December 3, 10, & 11 at 7:30 PM • 4, 5, & 12 at 2 PM

The Story: As miserly old Ebenezer Scrooge falls asleep in his dreary home on Christmas Eve, three ghosts appear, each revealing to Scrooge the wrong doings of his life and what will happen if he continues in his evil ways. He is racked with fear and remorse and sets out on Christmas Day to bless with his newfound generosity all those whom he has neglected and abused.
