The Story:In our American culture It’s a Wonderful Life has become almost as familiar as Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. The saga of George Bailey, the Everyman from the small town of Bedford Falls, whose dreams of escape and adventure have been quashed by family obligation and civic duty. Clarence, George’s guardian angel, pays a visit on Christmas Eve to save George from despair and to remind himby showing him what the world would have been like had he never been born, that his has been, after all, a wonderful life.

All roles are available: 12 Men, 10 Women, 2 boys, & 2 girls
George Bailey – The Everyman of Bedford Falls
Clarence Odbody – Angel Second Class
Mr. Gower – proprietor of the corner drug store
Young George/Pete Bailey – age 12
Harry Bailey – George’s younger brother
Mother Bailey – a very kind and understanding woman
Aunt Tilly – Uncle Billy’s wife
Violet Peterson – proprietor of a beauty salon
Bert – a patrolman
Ernie – a mail carrier
Uncle Billy – George’s uncle and business partner
Mary Hatch (later Bailey) – George’s loving wife
Henry F. Potter – owns practically the entire town
Mr. Potter’s Goon – ever-present with Mr. Potter
Mr. Potter’s Secretary – ever-faithful to Mr. Potter
Mrs. Hatch – Mary’s mother
Sam Wainwright – a financially successful young man
Miss Andrews – a townsperson
Mrs. Thompson – a townsperson
Mr, Martini – proprietor of a bar
Mrs. Martini – his wife
Miss Carter – a bank examiner
Tommy Bailey/Newspaper Boy – age 10
Zuzu Bailey – age 7
Mr. Welch – the schoolteacher’s husband
Janie Bailey – age 9

All audition materials will be provided. The rehearsal schedule is flexible and will be generated following the casting of the show (Usually 24 rehearsals). Actors auditioning must be available on December 1, 2, & 3 (Tech week) for tech & dress rehearsals (6 PM – 10 PM), and two school performances on December 11 at 10 AM & 12:30 PM.

December 4, 5, 6, 12, & 13 at 7:30 PM • 7 & 14 at 2 PM (Presented on JPAC’s Main Stage)
