Stage One, Inc. | Audition Notice for
Annie

September 25 & 26 at 6 PM

At the Janesville Performing Arts Center • 408 S Main St, Janesville, WI.

All roles are available:
Roles are available for men, women, girls, and boys ages 8 and older.
Please prepare 16-32 bars of a musical theatre song from or similar to Annie (provide your own sheet music for piano accompanist), alternatively, kids without sheet music may sing Happy Birthday. Those auditioning will also be asked to read selections that we will provide at the audition. Rehearsals will begin in October, the rehearsal schedule will be finalized after casting.

About the Show:
Little orphan Annie charms everyone’s hearts despite a next-to-nothing start in 1930s New York City. She is determined to find the parents who abandoned her years ago on the doorstep of a New York City Orphanage that is run by the cruel, embittered Miss Hannigan. With the help of the other girls in the Orphanage, Annie escapes to the wondrous world of NYC. In adventure after fun-filled adventure, Annie foils Miss Hannigan’s evil machinations… and even befriends President Franklin Delano Roosevelt! She finds a new home and family in billionaire, Oliver Warbucks, his personal secretary, Grace Farrell, and a lovable mutt named Sandy.

November 30, December 7, & 8 at 7:30 PM • December 1, 2, & 9 at 2 PM o There will also be one daytime performance for schools at 10 AM on December 6.

Inherit the Wind is an American play by Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee, which debuted in 1955. The story fictionalizes the 1925 Scopes “Monkey” Trial as a means to discuss the then-contemporary McCarthy trials. The debate over creationism versus evolution has contemporary resonance, as evidenced by the play’s numerous revivals and screen adaptations decades after its initial theatrical run.

War of the Worlds will be presented as a live radio broadcast on Halloween at the Janesville Performing Arts Center and simulcast on WCLO. Stage One is using the famous Mercury Theatre adaptation.

War of the Worlds: 20+ roles for men and women
All audition materials will be provided. The rehearsal schedule is flexible and will be generated following the casting of each show.

The Story: One of Williams’ best-known works and his personal favorite, the play won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1955. Set in the “plantation home in the Mississippi Delta” of Big Daddy Pollitt, a wealthy cotton tycoon, the play examines the relationships among members of Big Daddy’s family, primarily between his son Brick and Maggie the “Cat”, Brick’s wife.

All roles are available:
8 men, 5 women, 4 children

Audition materials will be provided. The rehearsal schedule is flexible and will be generated following the casting of the show (Around 25 rehearsals). Actors auditioning must be available on October 8-12 (Tech week) for tech & dress rehearsals (6 PM – 10 PM), as well as performances.

Vanya & Sonia & Masha & Spike Auditions

The Story: Vanya and Sonia have never left the confines of their childhood home in Bucks County, PA, while their sister Masha has been gallivanting around the world as a successful actress. A surprise visit from Masha and her 20-something boy toy, Spike, throws the normally quiet household into utter upheaval as its residents and visitors get swept up in an intoxicating mixture of lust, rivalry, regret, and the sudden possibility of escape. Some of the show’s elements were derived from works of Anton Chekhov, including several character names, the play’s setting in a cherry orchard, and the theme of the possible loss of an ancestral home.

All 6 roles are available:
Vanya – 40s-50s, living is Bucks County. Resigned to his life, more or less, at least compared to Sonia.
Sonia – (Vanya’s) adopted sister, 40s-50s, living with him in Bucks County. Discontent, upset, regretful.
Masha – Vanya’s sister, 40s-50s, glamorous and successful actress who goes gallivanting around the world.
Spike – An aspiring actor, 20s-30s, sexy, self-absorbed, Masha’s new companion.
Nina – Lovely, sincere would be actress, 20s-30s, visiting her aunt and uncle next door. Star struck energy.
Cassandra – Cleaning lady and soothsayer, any age.

All audition materials will be provided. The rehearsal schedule will be generated following the casting of the show (Usually 24 rehearsals). Actors auditioning must be available on March 7, 8, & 9 (Tech week) for tech & dress rehearsals (6 PM – 10 PM)
